General recommendations

• Use clean Windows installation for production environments.
• Use Microsoft provided AntiVirus/AntiMalware software.
• When using other Antivirus software (not recommended), exclude c:\SMLServer and SML data folders from scanning.

Requirements for storage

• Use non-system partition for SML data (recordings) folders, it will improve performance.
• Primary online storage: NTFS filesystem; local disks (recommended RAID 6 using enterprise class disks); NAS over iSCSI; SAN over Fiber or similar
• Secondary storage folder for video stations and storage folders for non-recording stations: local disks or NAS/SAN - network over SMB protocol
• Network shares are supported only as UNC paths i.e. \\server\folder.
• Warning: Use of mapped drives is not recommended. When using drives mapped as letters, SML Server has to be installed in desktop mode.
