Applies to SML Server installed in Service mode (default installer option).
In default configuration SMLGuardService is configured to run on "Local System" account. If network access is required for storage or metadata access, SMLGuardService service has to be reconfigured via Services configuration to run on a dedicated user with proper network access credentials.
The same user can be used as for desktop login and management using Config and for the service. The user should have local administrator rights.
How to configure service to use different user:
- close SML Config
- access list of services - by executing "services.msc" or via Computer Management -> Services and Applications -> Services
- find SMLGuardService, enter its properties, in "Log on" tab switch to "this account", and provide valid username and password (twice) for the user service will execute on
- restart service SMLGuardService, if it does not start check if username and password were entered correctly, and if user is local administrator
- start SML Config - SMLGuardService is now running as selected user and will be able to access network locations this user is authorized for.
User SMLGuardService is configured on is displayed in SML Config
