Configuration backup & restore

Backup

In order to backup SML Server configuration and executables, files listed below should be copied:

c:\SMLServer\*.txt
c:\SMLServer\*.ini
c:\SMLServer\bin (excluding subfolders)
c:\SMLServer\metadata (excluding subfolders)

Warning: locations listed above do not contain any audio/video files. These have to be backed up separately (id needed).

Restore

To restore previous configuration simply copy & overwrite files in SMLServer installation folder (C:\SMLServer) with files from backup. You have to close running SML applications and stop SML Guard service (if used) before.

If this is new installation (like new machine for existing logger), once backup is restored, you should run SML Server for same version and install it “over” restored data. Next start SML Configuration and check:

audio/video capturing devices - if restored configuration matches current hardware
station folders - if drive letters in restored configuration matches current hardware
network folder access - if the SML server can read&write in specified locations
GPI/O hardware and connection - if used in Meta module
