To start webPlayer, open web browser and type http://yoursmlserver:port/ 
Ask your system administrator for details if you're unsure what to type here. 

Station list

Stirlitz Media webPlayer's welcome screen lists all stations available from this web browser. 

SML webPlayer welcome screen - station selector

Search: full-text search box. Type one or more letters to filter list of available stations. Search works for Station name and the Server address/IP.

Stations grid: each box represents a single programme with its name, time of last recording and the length of archive. Boxes having blue background are stations that are being currently recorded. They also show preview for last frame captured.  Boxes with gray background are stations that are not recording and only have archived data. "TV" icon on the box indicates video archive. "Radio" icon is for audio channel.  These icons can be changed to station logo - more details on this in SML Server manual. 

Log in area: Station grid will only show stations that can be accessed anonymously. If there are some stations with restricted access, you will need to log in into SML webPlayer with your username and password.

Status box: presents the addresses/IPs of servers webPlayer is connected to, its software version and the number of recorded stations. 
 
To access station, simply click its' box on the list.

webPlayer interface and usage is similiar to SML Player for Windows.

The timeline

SML webPlayer timeline

SML Player timeline shows your archive in visual way. It is divided in five rows containing numbered boxes. Those rows are showing different resolutions of archive preview: seconds, minutes, hours, days and months.  For easier navigation, video stations timeline shows first keyframe captured in each displayed second, minute and so.

Red vertical line in the middle of the timeline is the cursor ("playhead") showing the exact position of currently played part. Timecode for cursor position is displayed below the timeline.

To access specific part of the show, simply drag any of the timeline bar to selected date/time. On mobile, just swipe your finger left or right to scroll through timeline bars.

You can hide timeline from screen if you wish to see bigger picture. Simply locate and click red "X" icon on the top right part of the screen.

Station selector & navigation bar

• [ Station name ] - station selector. Gives the list of stations available for SML webPlayer.
• Navigation bar helps set cursor in exact position on the timeline. It can also be using for fast search. It shows the date and time of record. The time is the position of the cursor on timeline. Each digit and month name is clickable. Clicking the digit with the left mouse button increases the number by one. Right button - decreases. 
• [ UTC (HH:MM) ] - time zone. Displays time zone and allows to re-adjust it to your local time.
• [ Pencil ] - Skips to manually entered time.
  • To get to specific time, type HHMMSS or HHMMSStc. Example: 112233 = 11:22:33, 15014502 = 15:01:45.02
  • To get to specific date and time, type DDMMYYYYHHMMSS or DDMMYYYYHHMMSStc. Example: 0510201815234502 = 05-10-2018 15:23:45.02

Control buttons are groupped with colors, regarding their context.

• [ Play ] - starts playing the archive. Press space or click/tap preview area to start playing.
• [ Pause ] - holds the playback. Press space or click/tap the preview area to pause playing.
• [ Fullscreen ] - enters full screen mode. Same as doubleclicking the preview area.
• [ Link ] - creates an URL that can be shared with other webPlayer users. Each generated link contains the URL to the station and position in the archive at the moment of hitting the button. Copy link for later use.           
• [ Camera ] - shows the selection of video qualities to choose from (if there is more than original). Once clicked, webPlayer will switch playback to selected quality.           
• [ Music ] - shows the selection of audio qualities or audio/language versions to choose from. Once clicked, webPlayer will switch playback to selected quality.           
• [ Mark In ] - sets the current cursor position as beginning of part of the show to export
• [ Mark Out ] - same as above only for the end of the selection
• [ Download ] - opens the selection of formats that the selection can be saved to.
• [ Exit ] - shuts down webPlayer and goes back to station list.
• [ Volume ] (audio stations only) - adds and overlay on the timeline, showing the graph of loudness in each part of the recording.
• [ Name (txt) ] - opens the list of events collected from external sources - such as on-air log from playout system or loudness report. Each row of the list is active - clicking rows scrolls the timeline to clicked event.
• [ Name (gpi) ] - opens the list of events collected from GPI - such as microphone on/off (if configured). Each row of the list is active.
• [ Event information ] - opens the event information recorder with source. Each row of the list is active - clicking the programme name scrolls to it on timeline. 
                 

Preview area (video stations only) plays the selected part of recorded programme. Doubleclick it to enter full screen mode. To exit full screen mode, press Esc or double click the picture.

Metadata area shows selected metadata - such as as-run log, loudness, event information etc. Click on any row of the metadata window, to jump to selected event on the timeline.
